The files contain articles, clippings, brochures, pamphlets and correspondence about notable 19th and 20th century American antiquarian booksellers gathered by Dickinson as source material for his Dictionary of American antiquarian bookdealers (1998). The dictionary contains articles on 205 booksellers who died before 1997, including well-known figures such as Robert Clarke, Epes Ellery, and William Gowans in the 19th century and Lathop C. Harper, A.S.W. Rosenbach, and Hans P. Kraus in the 20th century.
